At AlphaSense, our mission has always been to help the world’s leading companies and financial institutions make critical decisions with confidence and speed. And in the face of continued uncertainty and marketplace volatility like we saw in 2022, the ability to surface and track insights becomes even more crucial for businesses.
As I reflect on all we’ve accomplished in the past year, I am, first and foremost, deeply grateful to our customers, our investors, our team, and our partners. 2022 was a challenging year for many. Especially in light of the current equity market dynamics, I am incredibly proud of the milestones we’ve achieved as a company, and of the immense value our platform enables for the majority of S&P 500 companies, 75% of the top asset management firms, and leading companies across almost every vertical.
There are many meaningful moments and achievements I could single out from 2022, but a few stand out: our Series D fundraise led by Goldman Sachs and Viking Global, joining a rarified group of centaur companies at a $1.7 billion valuation, and being appointed the exclusive distributor of Goldman Sachs aftermarket research through Wall Street Insights®.
In 2022, we also invested heavily in the strategic acquisitions we made to help expand our product offering and the value we deliver to our customers. This includes our acquisition of Stream in late 2021 and then scaling its expert transcript library to over 25,000 expert call transcripts, to reach more geographies, build deep coverage across multiple verticals, as well as adding the power of AlphaSense search technology and workflow on top of this unique content to help deliver even greater value to customers.
In 2022, we also acquired Sentieo, a financial intelligence platform; in 2023, we can’t wait to share more about the “best-of-both” platform we’re launching that will include the various advanced workflow tools Sentieo users know and love, such as Notebook, Table Explorer, Custom Dashboards, and more.
We simply wouldn’t be the company we are today without our incredible customers, whose user reviews this past year have validated and elevated us as a TrustRadius “2022 Best Software Award” and as a Leader in G2 in multiple categories, including Market Intelligence and Financial Research, as well as Media Monitoring and Cloud Content Collaboration.
User feedback continues to reinforce our mission as a company, and we remain customer-obsessed in our pursuit of helping our clients expertly navigate unpredictable markets by having the best market intelligence at their fingertips, to drive quicker and more confident decision-making. In a market like this, our clients also appreciate the ability to do more with less, as they conduct their research more efficiently enabled by AlphaSense technology.
Some of my favorite customer stories this year include How Schneider Electric achieves sustainability goals by using the platform to help them pinpoint new investment opportunities, How Royalty Pharma Uses Stream for Due Diligence and to stay up-to-date on trends across the biopharma landscape, and How Wendel Uses AlphaSense to Never Miss Investment Opportunities (and improved their research efficiency by 50%).

A Product-First Company
Providing clients with the most meaningful insights means constantly innovating on our platform with the latest AI technology and extensive content sets—even more important in this challenging macro environment to continue driving ever greater value for our customers.
To that end, we released more significant product improvements and innovations this year than ever before, including:
- Improving and innovating on our core AI and language model technology across the board, like launching a new and refined algorithm that surfaces even more pertinent results through AI-powered relevancy enhancements, personalized keyword and ticker auto-complete, and recommended searches.
- Updating our powerful monitoring capabilities, with enhancements to our Dashboard features like Trending Topics across companies, watchlists, and industries.
- Expanding beyond text-based documents by including audio player capabilities and a Talk to this Expert feature that connects you directly to an expert in our Stream Expert Call library.
- Enhancing our private company data with information on over 1.4 million private companies.
- And much more.
There is even more coming in 2023 and our team has been hard at work to deliver insights more proactively to make sure our users never again need to worry about blind spots in their research.
Our Team and Embracing Sisu
At this time last year, we were at 500 employees — and now, with the acquisitions of Stream and Sentieo, the opening of our Frankfurt office, as well as the launch of our first team in Singapore, we’ve added over 700 new employees. On top of that, several early employees have passed the 10-year mark at AlphaSense, and how they continue to retain their excitement and commitment to the AlphaSense mission is something that the leadership team and I are really proud of.
I truly believe our growth and resilience in this market stems directly back to our core value of Sisu, which is a Finnish word that means bravery, determination, and perseverance in the face of obstacles. Sisu shows up in everything we do and is the guiding light to how we get things done at AlphaSense. And, every day, I am blown away by the hard work, dedication, and Sisu of a team that continues to break records every year.
