Current Sentiment Score
11
44 from prior quarter

Financials sentiment remains constructive but uneven, with five of the first six reporting banks posting positive scores. Resilient consumer spending, loan growth, and healthy credit trends are supporting confidence, while net interest income expectations remain favorable. Equity trading has been a standout, but advisory strength is concentrated among a few firms. A sharp rise in September rates pressured fixed-income trading and exposed credit and capital sensitivity. Management remains broadly optimistic, although higher borrowing costs, slowing dealmaking, and selective credit risks temper expectations.

The index now reflects six of the 12 banks reporting third-quarter results and will refresh as the remaining companies report.

The AlphaSense Sentiment Score is calculated as the net sum of positive and negative discourse in public company earnings call transcripts. It is powered by the AlphaSense Sentiment language model that applies deep domain-aware semantic reasoning to financial disclosure commentary and dialogue. It identifies significant shifts in executive tone and intent down to the sentence level, highlighted and auditable in all transcripts within the AlphaSense platform. This model delivers a normalized sentiment score (-100 to 100) that allows the tracking and identification of sentiment shifts based on what executives across thousands of public companies are discussing on earnings calls.
